Utility Construction Company, Inc. was awarded the contract for Directional Boring work on the US-60 Superstition Freeway, Gilbert Road to Power Road, Mesa Arizona by FNF Construction, Inc., for the Arizona Department of Transportation. The scope of the project consists of the installation of electrical conduit and duct banks by Directional Boring, for the new Highway Lighting, Freeway Management System, Fiber Optics and Ramp Metering. The project includes 197 individual bore shots, all of which cross under active US-60 traffic. The work includes bore shots up to 400', and back-reaming with up to a 16" reamer for the installation of multiple conduits.

Airfield Lighting (Case Study)
Luke Air Force Base (Glendale, Arizona)
In 2005/2006 UCC completed the replacement of the Airfield Approach Lighting (ALSF/SSALR) at Luke Air Force Base (Glendale, Arizona) for the 56th Contracting Division. The project consisted of electrical and concrete work, including trenching, drilling, directional boring and vault upgrades.
One significant task included in this project was the installation of 400 continuous feet of 16" steel casing underneath an active taxiway by directional boring method. All work was completed without airfield closures.
Utility Construction Company, Inc. has built a strong foundation in the construction of airfield, taxiway and apron lighting. Many of our airfield construction projects have included electrical improvements, utility construction, airfield navigational aids, security fencing, automatic gates and access systems.
In 2005, airport projects throughout the Phoenix area represented 35% of UCC's annual revenue.
